Anti-nuclear’ Obama plans to spend $1 trillion on nuclear weapons

‘Your car could soon start cutting off your phone calls, silencing the radio and monitoring the weather via intelligent windscreen wipers as insurers step up their hi-tech efforts to turn us into better drivers and cut the number of accidents.
Every driver in Britain could be monitored by their insurer’s tracking technology within the next decade, experts have predicted. Those who refuse could face higher premiums or be denied cover altogether.
So-called “black box” or “telematics” technology is becoming more popular because it enables good drivers to get discounts on their insurance. The boxes are especially favoured by young drivers, who would often pay far more under conventional underwriting.’

’4.3% of Americans Survive on Less than $2/Day –
That’s Considered Poor in Even the Poorest Lands
Slightly more than one American household with children in every 25 is surviving on less than $2 per day of income from all sources. One quarter of that 4.3% (that’s 1% of all Americans with children) receive less than $1.25 per day. One third (that’s about 1.33% of all Americans) receive between $1.25 and $2. Another third of that 4.3% receive enough government benefits to be living on between $1.25 and $2 a day. A tiny 0.1% of that 4.3% are even surviving somehow on “Negative income & benefits.”’

Major quarantine and experimental vaccines to curb Ebola

‘The Ebola epidemic in West Africa is raging out of control. Known cases have topped 3000 – with the true number thought to be two to four times that – and they are climbing exponentially, doubling every 35 days. The World Health Organization warns of a possible 20,000 known cases in the coming months if efforts to control the outbreak do not bear fruit.
The virus has now invaded Senegal, a fifth country, in what the WHO are calling a top-priority emergency.
The only effective controls are tracking and quarantining people exposed to the virus, and perhaps a vaccine. Last week, the WHO outlined an aggressive road map to stop the spread of the virus. It implied that this could involve quarantining entire communities in badly affected areas. An effort to do this without warning the community ended in riots in a slum in Monrovia, Liberia, last month, but the WHO hopes more community involvement will help in future.’

Saudi Arabia Remains on U.N. Human Rights Council despite 19 Beheadings, including One for ‘Sorcery’

‘Ask any human rights organization where they stand on chopping off people’s heads and they’ll probably say such actions constitute a violation of human rights.
And yet, one nation that does a lot of beheadings is on the United Nations’ Human Rights Council. Lately, in fact, Saudi Arabia can’t seem to get enough beheadings. Its government has executed at least 19 people using this method since August 4, according to Human Rights Watch (HRW).
Of the 19, eight were found guilty of non-violent offenses; seven for drug smuggling and one for committing sorcery.’

Shelling Kills Hundreds in Besieged Luhansk in East Ukraine

‘Hundreds have died in artillery attacks on eastern Ukraine’s key city of Luhansk as government troops continue to lay siege to the militia stronghold, according to a senior official of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic.

Luhansk has been left without running water, electricity and pho
e communications for 20 days as government troops continue to besiege it, pounding indiscriminately militia positions and residential quarters in and around the city. All deliveries of food, medication and fuel had long been stopped due to heavy shelling.’

Militarized police occupy USA

Militarized police occupy USA

‘But now, as Malcolm X famously said, the chickens are coming home to roost. The U.S. itself is coming under occupation, as militarized police forces – made up in part of hardened veterans of the counterinsurgency wars in Iraq and Afghanistan – are treating the American people the same way they treated their victims in foreign lands.
The shooting of unarmed teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri has highlighted the fact that much of the USA is now under de facto military occupation by murderously hostile troops posing as police officers. Witnesses confirm that Michael Brown was shot dead as he stood harmlessly with his hands in the air attempting to surrender. The police, as American police always do in these situations, have lied outrageously as they attempt to protect one of the murderers in their ranks.’

Iraq and the War Cabal in Washington

‘With a series of air strikes beginning Friday and continuing through the weekend, the United States has gone to war again in Iraq. This new imperialist military adventure has been launched in defiance of overwhelming popular opposition and without a shred of legal or constitutional authority.
The decision to launch a new war was made by a handful of strategists of US imperialist policy within the military/intelligence apparatus, in league with the corporate and financial elite. It was made behind the backs of the American people, who have absolutely no say in the policies, including going to war, that impact their lives.’

Outrage as Missouri police shoot and kill ‘unarmed’ black teen

‘Hundreds of residents of a predominantly black suburb in Missouri took to the streets after police fatally shot an 18-year-old black man on Saturday. Angry protesters chanted “Kill the police!” during the protest.
Michael Brown was a recent high school graduate who was scheduled to begin classes at Vatterott College on Monday. He was killed in Ferguson, a city in St. Louis County that has about 21,000 residents – two-thirds of whom are black.
The teenager was shot dead by a police officer while on his way to his grandmother’s house, according to Brown’s parents.’

Washington Threatens The World

Washington Threatens The World

‘The consequence of Washington’s reckless and irresponsible political and military interventions in Iraq, Libya, and Syria has been to unleash evil. The various sects that lived in peace under the rule of Saddam Hussein, Gaddafi, and Assad are butchering one another, and a new group, ISIS, is in the process of creating a new state out of parts of Iraq and Syria.
The turmoil brought into the Middle East by the Bush and Obama regimes has meant death and displacement for millions and untold future deaths. As I write 40,000 Iraqis are stranded on a mountain top without water awaiting death at the hands of ISIS, a creation of US meddling.’

Barack Obama authorises air strikes to help Iraqis besieged on mountain by Isis

‘Barack Obama has authorised targeted air strikes against Islamic militants in Iraq, as the US military began an airborne operation to bring relief to thousands of minority Iraqis driven to a grim, mountain-top refuge.
Describing the threats against stranded Yazidi refugees as holding the potential for “genocide”, the president said he had authorised limited air strikes to help Iraqi forces, to assist in the fight to break the siege and protect the civilians trapped there.’

US politicians ‘completely owned’ by Zionists: Ex-US presidential candidate

‘A former US presidential candidate says he is “deeply ashamed” of American leaders and politicians who are “completely owned” by Zionists and “banker elites” who seek “tremendous economic chaos” and the “enslavement of masses of people.”
“I’m deeply ashamed of America’s leadership” because of their support for Israel’s latest military offensive against the Gaza Strip which has killed nearly 2,000 Palestinians, said Merlin Lloyd Miller, and independent film director, writer, and producer who was the 2012 US presidential nominee for the American Third Position Party.’

NATO Warns Russia Will Use ‘Humanitarian Mission’ as Pretext to Invade Ukraine

‘NATO is again warning that Russia has amassed troops on its border and may soon invade Ukraine.
NATO claims Russia has 20,000 troops on the border and added 8,000 this week. Ukrainian officials, who routinely exaggerate the Russian threat, say the number is close to 45,000 troops with 100 fighter jets, helicopters and bombers, further heightening tensions in the region.’

Netanyahu asks US to help Israel avoid war crime charges

Picture above displayed by Street Democracy

WASHINGTON — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked US lawmakers Wednesday to help fend off Palestinian claims that his country engaged in “war crimes” while defending itself against attacks from Gaza, one top lawmaker told The Post.
The Israeli leader later told international reporters that his country employed “extraordinary measures” to avoid civilian deaths in the nearly month-long conflict.
As a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas held for a third day, Netanyahu met with a group of US legislators, including Rep. Steve Israel (D-L.I.,) to discuss the country’s tense security situation and some fissures in US-Israel relations.
Netanyahu asked the delegation to help Israel stay out of the International Criminal Court, where its attacks on Gaza could come under scrutiny — even while responding to Hamas rockets fired at Israeli urban centers.
Palestinian leaders are getting ready to join the ICC, and met with officials in the Hague recently to discuss the implications of joining.
“The prime minister asked us to work together to ensure that this strategy of going to the ICC does not succeed,” Rep. Israel told the Post by phone from Tel Aviv.
Netanyahu “wants the US to use all the tools that we have at our disposal to, number one, make sure the world knows that war crimes were not committed by Israel, they were committed by Hamas. And that Israel should not be held do a double standard,” the congressman said.

U.S. Finally ‘Appalled’ By ‘Disgraceful Shelling’ On U.N. School in Gaza

‘The United States criticized the “disgraceful shelling” at a U.N. school in Gaza on Sunday and urged Israel to do more to prevent civilian casualties in its war against Hamas militants.
State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki also called for an investigation into attacks on U.N. schools in densely populated Gaza.
“The United States is appalled by today’s disgraceful shelling outside an UNRWA school in Rafah sheltering some 3,000 displaced persons, in which at least ten more Palestinian civilians were tragically killed,” Psaki said in a statement.’
