‘Undercover operations that safeguard the public could be put at risk after Scotland Yard was forced for the first time to name two of its covert officers, a leading police organisation warned yesterday.
John Tully, chairman of the Metropolitan Police Federation, said officers would now think twice about going undercover after the force identified two men who had relationships with women activists in groups they infiltrated.
The Met named Jim Boyling and Bob Lambert in court papers – the first time in history a police force has revealed the identity of an undercover officer.’
